Abstract

The closure of educational institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted efforts to cultivate and appreciate Islamic knowledge. Consequently, the transformation of teaching and learning (TnL) into online platforms emerged as an essential alternative to revive the culture of knowledge among educators and students. In the post-pandemic era, educational dynamics continue to advance through technological progress, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) applications, which enhance TnL effectiveness. However, challenges such as access to digital infrastructure, technological adaptation, and a profound appreciation of Islamic knowledge demand comprehensive consideration. This study aims to identify the main challenges in cultivating Islamic knowledge through the implementation of online TnL and to explore how AI technology can be utilized to support more interactive and personalized learning. A research approach is employed through content analysis of journal articles, books, and official documents from the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The findings highlight that the integration of technology and AI has the potential to address these challenges by offering solutions such as adaptive learning platforms, AI-based virtual mentoring, and learning data analytics. This study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach, synergy among stakeholders, and progressive policies to ensure the continuity of Islamic knowledge cultivation in the era of digital education.
